Resolved Question: How to write a college personal statement?

I am applying early to University of Tennessee Knoxville and I have no clue what to write as a personal statement. The UT admission website didn't give a prompt, it just said, "Use the optional personal statement to share with us your most important successes in high school." My main problem is how to start the paper. I want to major in nutrition. Should I use the personal statement to share why I want to major in nutrition at UT even though the website says "...share your most important successes in high school"? Even though UT says share your successes in high school, I've heard contradicting info from my English teacher, that you SHOULDN'T talk about things that can be read on your transcript. I don't know.
